Publisher: Léon Saussine (unknown-1896) founded Saussine editions in 1860 and directed the company until his death in 1896, when he was succeeded by his widow and his sons. Saussine games published several types of games, including magnetic games. In 1878 Léon Saussine exhibited at the Exposition Universelle (World's Fair) in Paris. Saussine Publisher - Great producer of games of course, strategy, direction and shooting, patience, questions and answers, shadow theater, Léon Saussine succeeded Hugues-Marie Duru in 1860, former publisher and bookseller in Paris. Duru, on the other hand, a professor, had been making educational games in the form of illustrated tables for at least 20 years. Saussine took over Duru's warehouse-apartment on Cloitre Saint-Jacques street. If he did not print the games himself that were made outside by printers - lithographers, including the names of Jannin and Roche, he assembled and packed them on the spot in the warehouse and then had them sold by some representatives to the warehouse workers or to the bazaars. Inventor, Saussine patented a magnetic game in 1870. The next four will equally implement ingenious technical procedures. But Saussine was also a dynamic and curious manufacturer of competing French and German production. For this reason, the archives of the Saussine house contain many catalogs of manufacturers and merchants from the beginning of the century. Present at the Universal Exposition of 1878 as a manufacturer of educational and social games in cardboard, after 1882-1883 he diversified his production and modernized his shop located at 42 Saintonge Street in the Marais. After her death in 1896, the widow and starting from 1916 the two sons Maurice and Georges continued the management of the family business; in 1916 this bears the trade name "Saussine Frères". Cinema, sports, new inventions gave birth to games in which the pretension to teach, which had hitherto predominated, tends to disappear. In 1928 the two brothers formed a limited liability company, "Maurice et Georges Saussine Freres". Business went well: they imported material from Germany, exported to Belgium .... In 1944 the signature took the name "Societé Maurice et Robert Saussine". A final patent was filed in 1955 by Robert Saussine, grandson of the founder, for a shooting game. At the end of the 1950s, the firm was still marketing some canned path games. The existence of the company is attested by its presence in the general trade yearbook in 1964: in 1980 it will be removed from the Trade and Companies Register.
